RATS

Rats are seen as pests by many, even when domesticated, but they are truly great pets! Rats are loving, social, and intelligent. Of course each rat has their own personality, but no matter what they are like you and your rats will love each other!

Rats need interaction so you must have two or more rats housed together. If your rat is alone they can grow to be lonely and depressed.

  • Rats are crepescular, meaning they are mostly awake at dawn and dusk.

  • Rats like to climb so they need a tall cage with bars.

  • Rats in the wild burrow and pet rats will need a way to do this to be able to do natural behaviors and enrich themselves.

  • Rats live about 2-4 years.

  • While rats cannot be housed alone, they should be in same-sex groups to prevent breeding. Only professional, licensed breeders should be breeding animals.

Information will be expanded on in other pages regarding rats; this is merely an overview of them
